Very genuine question being raised, why Fast-foods companies are not factored for ESG Concerns, while they themselves are very open about risk of their products on people's health ??
Why are there concerns over inclusion of fast food chains in the ESG segment because the Government had already increased the Tax-slabs for junk foods?

2. The motive of government behind raising taxes is that the consumers won’t be able to afford these products and ultimately the demand will reduce- is it correct?
3. It is quite obvious that despite companies disclosing their nutritional values people will keep consuming fast food and amidst that if govt. increases taxes so can we conclude that govt. is looking forward to boost its revenue?
4. On one side they say that that P/E of fast-food companies’ is very high as compared to cigarette and liquor companies and on the other side they say that there is no sharp difference between the valuations of sin stocks and fast food stocks. Which to believe?
i think its wrong going on the morals or sentiments and ESG score is just a formality. knowing that even fast food products are equally harmful as cigarettes business, can u explain this article with ITC example as its around 85% of revenue comes from cigarette business and has strong fundamentals and still trading at undervalue

How does ESG score work? How do they rate companies in absolute values for such a non- financial aspect?
