After selecting an Industry or company the first step you need to do is build your sector repository as this will help you for your research. You can’t randomly open any document and start reading. You need to have a clear idea what you are reading and along with this you need to have a clear idea that in what document you get what kind of information.
In this particular blogspot we would be discussing a list of resources you need to download and start your research process. So after downloading all the documents mentioned below we are pretty sure that you’ll get all the data needed for your analysis.
Industry Related documents to be downloaded:
1.List of the companies present in your industry from BSE industry watch list. (https://www.bseindia.com/markets/Equity/EQReports/industrywatchList.html)
2. Find an Association of your Industry like AMFI for mutual funds, Defense and strategic Industries Association of India for Defense manufacturing sector. For Pharmaceutical you have Bulk drug Manufacturers Association, Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association (IDMA). So it's not compulsory that Industry might have 1 or 2 associations their might be more than that. In the case when Industry has many associations then you need to go to their website and see the most active association .
3. Find Trade Journals or industry specific bloggers of your industry like pharma compass, http://medicinman.net/ for pharmaceutical, steel360.com, steel mint from steel or vahan.nic.in for 2-3 wheeler. You can find trade journals from the Magzter app.
4. Find Government Ministry/ Department website like for example Ministry of defense for Defense sector, Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO)/FDA for Pharmaceuticals. You can find government website on investindia.gov.in
5. Go through the Industry webinar by Care ratings on YouTube on their official YT handle https://www.youtube.com/user/CARERatingsOnline and you should also check FoF (Financial opportunities forum) by PPFAS Mutual fund which will give you a nice overview of your industry. https://ppfasfof.com/
6. Download Industry Initiating coverage Report by big institutions like FICCI, KPMG, Avendus, Edelweiss, Spark Capital, HDFC institutional reports, Haitong, Equrius, Ambit capital, Motilal oswal reports, Axis capital, Frost & Suvillan, BCG reports, AT & Kerney reports, IBEF etc.
7. Find the blogs specific to your given Industry. There are many people who write blogs on specific sectors and are unbiased so if you find such types of blogs then you'll get unbiased. (Examples: For example if you want to understand tech following Stracherry (Ben Thompson) or a16z blog posts can be tremendously helpful to you)
8. There are twitter channels which are sector specific for example: all the major government bodies are there on twitter DPIIT, ministry of power. Petroleum, steel etc go to their website there is tons of information available for respective sectors. To track chemicals you can follow @chemanalyst @petrochemindia, automobiles @FADA_india, packaging - @WhatPackaging, Agriculture - @APEDADOC etc.

6)Annual Reports (5-7 years) of the company (BSE>Company Name > Financials > Annual Report)
7)Download a Con-calls transcript of your company and of other companies of your industry. Available on screnner.in, alphastreetindia, gostocksindia etc
8) Management Interviews (Research bytes https://www.researchbytes.com/Default.aspx)
9) Sustainability reports: especially for chemicals companies
10) Investor presentation: Available under investor section of company's websites
10) Company specific Initiating coverage reports
A lot of time primary data/statistics on age, sex, income levels, urban/Rural, consumption patterns etc. are required to understand a particular business.
